    Day 1: The return.

Write the moment your protagonist returns to their Southern hometown—or the family land—after years...

    Day 3: What they inherited.

Option A: Write about something physical your protagonist has inherited—a piece of jewelry, a Bible, a photograph, a key. What does it represent? What does it demand?

    Day 7: The land.

Write a scene set in a specific room—a parlor, a kitchen, a bedroom—where something terrible once happened.

Example: The nursery door stuck, swollen with decades of humidity. When it finally gave, I stumbled inside and gagged on air that tasted like dust and lavender.
